Shapiro Releases First TV Ad: “Vowed”
SARASOTA, FL – Today, Democratic Candidate for Florida’s 16th Congressional District David Shapiro went on air with his first ad, “Vowed”, which tells the story of a young David, witnessing another child getting bullied, and how that experience shaped his worldview for the rest of his life and the actions he has taken standing up for those who need an advocate.
“Scared and ashamed, I walked away,” David narrates in the ad. “But I vowed never to do that again. As a lawyer I stood up to insurance companies and insurance corporations. Now Washington politicians are bullying seniors, cutting Social Security and Medicare, and breaking the promises we made to our veterans.”
The ad, which will air on broadcast and cable television in the Tampa-St. Petersburg market, highlights David’s career of 30 years, fighting on the side of Florida families against big corporations and insurance companies as an attorney in Sarasota.
“As an attorney for more than 30 years, I’ve spent my career protecting people from predatory insurance companies, government incompetence, and big corporations,” said David. “I plan to take that same fight to Washington, where career politicians have failed to protect Florida families time and time again.”
David’s campaign in recent weeks has attracted national attention, as political handicappers Cook Political Report and Sabato’s Crystal Ball have upgraded the chances of the seat flipping in Democrats’ favor.
“David’s message of standing up for everyday people against the big corporations and insurance companies who are trying to take advantage of them is resonating with people across Florida’s 16th district,” said Shapiro Campaign Manager, Alex Vuskovic. “That’s because people here in this community are ready for someone who will stand on their side against government incompetence, predatory corporations, and Washington politicians whose yacht-sized self interest is hurting Florida families’ ability to make ends meet and save for retirement. Folks are ready for someone who can change Washington and they’ve seen David is up to the task.”
